Sometimes you fall into working from home.

I love this interview with Bri Pruitt of HippieDippieMom. I relate so much to her, because like her, I’m an unintentional entrepreneur. Her own life experiences led to her wanting to help others, and it turned into a business she’s now passionate about. Check out Bri’s story.

1. Tell me about your yourself.

I recently moved from Southern CA to North Idaho. I’m married, and we have one 6 year old daughter. We also have two cats and a dog. I was a Registered Nurse since 2009 and started Health Coaching while still working as a RN. When we moved I had to quit and planned to not go back. Fun fact – I think I can DIY craft and cook all the recipes just like they look on Pinterest, but mine are usually a Pinterest fail!

2. What is your business?

The name of my company is HippieDippieMom. I sell my coaching services, both as one-on-one coaching and digital programs. In my coaching business, I focus on eliminating household toxins from food, skin care products, cleaning products and more because these are the #1 cause of everything from brain fog to depression to autoimmune issues to cancer.

I also work with an amazing MLM that supports what I do with my clients.

3. How long have you been working with your business?

I began Health Coaching in 2016 after I graduated from The Institute for Integrative Nutrition.

4. Why did you want to work from home? What is your “why”?

It was actually never a goal of mine to work from home. I was taught to work for someone else forever. But it just kinda happened. Now I can’t imagine it any other way! I don’t have to follow anyone else’s rules or policies. I can be here for my family anytime.

5. Why did you start this business? Did you look into any other business ideas? Have you tried any others before this one?

I started this business because I healed my own health issues (brain fog, fatigue, depression, anxiety, migraines and more) by eliminating toxins. I had no guidance and no support which left me feeling overwhelmed. As a result, I would often fall back to my unhealthy but familiar habits. It took me a long time to actually get healthy.

I was amazed that no healthcare professional could help me like I helped myself. I want to provide this info, guidance and support to others. Basically I wanted to be the person I wish I had when I was making healthy transformations. It would have made my life SO much easier!

6. How many hours do you work every day? What kinds of things do you do to make money?

How many hours I work varies (which is one of the nice things about being an entrepreneur). If I can’t work in a day because my daughter is on summer break and we want to do something fun, then I don’t work. Most days I’m working a minimum of 2 hours (after my daughter goes to bed). When she’s in school I work 4-6 hours on average.

To make money, I do one-on-one coaching, sell digital courses, work with an MLM that supports what I’m having clients do, I’m an affiliate for several companies (that I link to through my blog), and I do corporate events.

7. How long did it take to see your first sale? How long did it take to make a profit?

I got my first client pretty quick, but didn’t get many more for a while. The first year was a little rough. I wasn’t confident in myself so I was hiding behind my blog and waiting for people to come to me (HA!). And I was also homeschooling and working as a RN at the time which left very little time to do all the things. I was overwhelmed with having my own business.

Now, I’m loving it. I still start to get overwhelmed at times, but can now remind myself that I can only do one thing at a time and that I need to put myself out there to make money.

8. How do you help your customer? Why would they buy from you or work with you?

I help my clients by teaching them skills that they can use forever and pass down to their kids in order to live a healthy lifestyle. So I bust common myths and show them that focusing on weight loss is something that’s keeping them in an unhealthy cycle.

I work with moms that want more energy, less pain and kids that rarely get sick.

9. What do you like best about your business?

What I love most is that I get the opportunity to watch families make seriously amazing transformations! I teach them to make those changes part of a sustainable lifestyle. And I get to watch them be amazed that symptoms they thought would never go away, go away.

I also love that I’m my own boss and I’m showing my daughter that she can be her own boss by doing something she’s truly passionate about.

10. How would someone start a business or like yours or with your team?

There are so many programs available now to become a Certified Health Coach, but it is definitely important to become certified. Look into a variety of programs and learn more about the one that resonates with you.

They can also sign up to work with my MLM team, doTERRA, just by signing up as a Wellness Advocate. I give monthly trainings and am available beyond that for help. It’s also very important to look into the actual products and backgrounds of companies you want to rep. So many do shady things or use harmful ingredients.

11. What do you do to help your new team members and your customers succeed?

For my team members, I offer monthly trainings on product, mindset, and a variety of health topics. For team members that meet certain criteria, I also offer one-on-one health coaching with me. I help them launch their own business if that’s one of their goals.

For customers, they get a lot of education and support. They also get mindset work since that is such a huge part of success. And They learn a lot of info that they can use long after I stop working with them. They get handouts, resources, and more.

I work with their kids to help them make healthier choices, and read labels. Kids are really good about keeping parents in check!! For those who purchase digital courses, they receive updated versions of the program forever.

12. What kinds of expectations should someone new to online business, working from home, working for yourself, or new to your direct sales business have?

Know that it doesn’t happen overnight. Starting any type of business can take more hours than a full time job does.  But unlike working for someone else, the sky is the limit for the amount of money you can make! I’ve heard some people say they get lonely working from home, but I don’t experience that at all.

13. How can someone connect with you?

I’m on the web at HippieDippieMom.com. I’m also on Instagram and Facebook, and you can join my private Facebook group. You can also follow me on Pinterest.  I also have a DoTerra website. And you can always email me.
